Next Aimzine

The June edition of Aimzine will be published on the weekend of 30 May. In this edition we will be looking at another Renewable Energy company as well as featuring two exciting high growth companies.

We have had a number of requests from our readers to cover tax matters in relation to Aim shares. There is quite a lot to cover including: SIPP’s, ISA’s, IHT, VCT’s and EIS – next month we lift the lid on this pot of ‘alphabet soup’.

We have a number of AIM-focused features planned for June and we will, of course, have all of our regular features: Meet the Players, AIM New Girl, Aim Snippet and CityInsider.

If you would like to comment on any of our articles or you would like us to cover a particular topic please let us know. Readers can give comments to Aimzine by clicking here or can discuss our articles on the Aimzine SocialGO site

AIM New Girl

Putting Donkeys out to Grass

Our Aim new girl has been reviewing her investments this month. Some of the race horses in her stable have been doing well, but not all of them.

Aimzine Social

Starting in May we will be looking to add content to the Aimzine Social site. In particular we will be commenting, on the day they are announced, on any exceptional RNS statements that we see – rather along the lines of our Aim Snippet feature

In our quest for fast growing Aim companies, this month we are turning the spotlight on Mediwatch. The increasing ageing population will mean that world-wide spending on healthcare is likely to increase significantly over the coming years. It would seem that Mediwatch, a urology specialist, is well placed to benefit from this increased spending.

The Group’s flagship product, PSAwatch, certainly seems to have considerable potential. The Group recently reported its first profit and the directors are optimistic about prospects, so now is a good time to take a closer look.

red24

Global Security Specialists

At a time when commentators are suggesting that many tiny Aim companies can no longer justify their listing, it was refreshing to meet with Maldwyn Worsley-Tonks, CEO of red24 Plc.  This small security specialist company has a market capitalisation of just £1.2 million but the CEO believes that the cost of the Group’s Aim listing is fully justified and he looks forward to retaining the Aim listing as red24 grows over the coming years.

The Lean towards Green

Renewable Energy Holdings

Alex Race is taking a look at Renewable Energy Companies. This month he features Renewable Energy Holdings.

Founded in 2004 and floated on AIM in February 2005, Renewable Energy Holdings (REH.L) is one of the most experienced renewable energy generation companies on the junior market. Initially created to acquire the intellectual property rights of CETO, a unique wave energy extraction and desalination device, REH have used the proceeds of its stock market floatation to develop the project and diversify into wind energy and landfill gas generation projects.

Profits in Difficult Times

The Continuing Story of Buckinghamshire Bill

In our February edition, I reported on a meeting I had with Bill, a successful small company investor from Buckinghamshire. Three months later I caught up with Bill again to enquire about his progress during these challenging times.

Bill makes a living from investing in small companies and you could expect him to be struggling through the bear market. Far from it, Bill has been doing well and is optimistic about prospects

The Day Traders are Back

The Aim market has been in a long decline since July 2007 but the positive price action seen during April has indicated that things really are changing. During the month 59 Aim-listed companies have seen their shares double in price whilst only 5 have seen their prices halve.

AIM

Snippet

This month our search for an exceptional RNS statement has landed on one of the companies that we have previously featured in Aimzine.

The Company has recently announced some improving results which has lifted the share price somewhat. However, there could be a lot more potential here.

Aimzine Edition No 11

This month we report in our Featured Companies update that these 25 companies showed an average gain in April of 17.8%. This comes at a time of improving conditions in the market but is still quite an impressive average. Our Market Report also looks at some other strong gainers in the month. Someone who is benefitting greatly from the improved conditions is ‘Buckinghamshire Bill’ – although this successful private investor was also doing very well in the bad times.

In this edition we cover three Aim companies with prospects of strong growth. The smallest is red24 which only has a market capitalisation of £1.2 million but seems to have excellent prospects. Somewhat larger is Mediwatch, which has recently moved into profitability. In our ‘Lean towards Green’ feature Alex Race covers the prospects for Renewable Energy Holdings.

Our CityInsider is looking at the ‘fun-damentals of fund management’ this month and our Aim New Girl is ‘putting her donkeys out to grass’. We are grateful to Clive Garston of National Law Firm, Halliwells, for providing this month’s ‘Meet the Players’ article.  At this point we must offer our congratulations to Redleaf Communications, supplier of last month’s Meet the Players article. Redleaf have just been named Financial PR Company of the Year at the recent Growth Company Awards.

We commend to you our Aim Snippet article this month, which covers an exciting rapid growth story. Also, do look out in future on Aimzine Social for an occasional mid-month ‘AIM Snippet’.

Meet the AIM Players

   Halliwells -

AIM in Reverse Gear?

We have included this press release from Deloitte because we thought it would be of interest to our readers. We believe that the increase in secondary fund raising referred to in the article is particularly encouraging.
