Meet the AIM Players...

Johnny Tigdas

Master Trader and Master Poster

This month we are grateful for a contribution from one of the most prolific posters on the bulletin boards. We asked Mr Tigdas if he could throw some light on the recent allegations by some AIM companies of defamation by  some bulletin board posters.
(See the September AimZine article on Bulletin Board Legal Action).

I met the bloke from Aimzeen the other day and he said that they were looking for someone to write their ‘Meet the Players’ article this month. I said I’d do it but then he said something about editing out my bad language – pompous git! I told him there’s a lot worse than me and if wants me to write something he can keep is hands of my writing - Friggin cheek!

Anyway, what he wants me to write about is all this rubbish about bulletin boards and defermation (Johnny means Defamation - Ed). I tell you; it has caused me some sleepless nights. Not that what I post on the BB’s is to bad, that is. I don’t tell lies like some people. Well, not really bad ones. I tell you, if they’re lookin for crooks in this game, there’s a lot more people they should be after before me. Take the bloody MM’s – I could tell you a thing or two. But that not what teh Aimzeen guy wants me to write about.

What they’re saying is that some people are posting lies. Well, between you and me, it’s fair game – I mean, if you tell people that you know some secret about a company they’re all ears. And how do they know that I don’t work on an oil-rig?

The other dodge I like to play (but keep this to yourself) is to slag off a company just when I want to buy some shares in it. You know, the people who read those boards are so gullable! (a capable sea bird? – Ed). You’ve only got to say that you’ve heard that there’s a problems with a company and they’re selling shares like there’s no tomorrow.....and down goes the share price, just for Johnny!

And the real ace to play (and you really mustn’t tell anyone about this), is to get someone on the bulletin board to agree with you. Well of course they won’t, but if you get a second handle then, of course you can agree with yourself. Mind, you have to be very careful what you write and to remember which one of your ‘names’ you are posting as - some people get very suspicious

how do they know I don't

work on an oil rig

Some more tricks

One of my favourite tricks is to post something that I know is false and would be bad for the share price using one name, then I come back quick as a flash using another name and write a longer post proving how it is a load of rubbish and the shares are cheap. Thus, the next time I post using the second handle, I will post a ramp and people will take me more seriously, as I have already shown some other post to have been nonsense previously.

Another good one is to find a link to an article on the internet that is nice and long. If you cannot find some information that is specific to the share it doesn't matter - just get something from an industry journal. If you copy and paste the link to the article and then put the article below in italics - just put above the link something like 'just wait until the market digests this and we could double from here'.  People won't take the time to read the article or understand it and will just take your word for it and start buying.

Habit forming

To be honest, the Bulletin Boards are pretty habit forming. I mean, you can say anything you like and nobody knows any different. I’ve got four names that I use. For my main one, I tell all the people that I am a phenomonal investor. And, you know, since I’ve bin postin my few little fibs on the boards, I have been a pretty  successful investor (I’m not sure if that’s the truth or not as I do get a little muddled after hours at the computer).

I have lots of arguments on the BB’s with some complete t***ers. They tell me that I am not as successful as I make out and say I am ramping or de-ramping. But I always find someone who will agree with me and support me – if you see what I mean!

The BB’s are just to much fun. I get up in the morning and have my breakfast at the computer and then the next thing I know it’s time for lunch. In fact some days that’s all I do. There’s so many bulletin boards to keep up with and it can be pretty tiring, I tell you.

There’s a lady I go to see each week. She’s a sort-of friend of my doctors. She’s very interested in me and what I do on the bulletin boards. She’s been showing me how to spell OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE – there I’ve got it right. Actually I have got to see her tomorrow.

But this afternoon I am off to the Jobcentre. They let me use a computer to search for jobs. You’d have thought they would have sorted the security on their computers so that you could not post on the BB’s!

The Editor writes: Unfortunately our planned Meeting with a real Meet the Players subject for this month’s article had to be postponed until next month. Mr Tidgas was a late replacement!

Whilst Mr Tigdas is a fictional character, there are several Bulletin Board posters who have been causing serious problems for a number of AIM-listed companies. In difficult economic times, these companies have enough problems without having their share price manipulated. The likes of Mr Tigdas are committing a serious crime and we look forward to firm action being taken against these people.
